Nature camp is a magical place where wonder and adventure are waiting to be discovered behind every tree. Due to the outdoor, exploratory nature of camp, campers must be able to move about on uneven terrain.
Knee-High Naturalists • Ages 4-5
Explore the trails at Pleasant Valley, play games, sing songs, make crafts, and listen to stories. Campers will go for short walks on the trails, so they should be able to move about on uneven terrain.

Discoverers • Ages 6–7
Explore Pike’s Pond, Yokun Brook, and the fields and forests at Pleasant Valley. Play games and sing camp songs. Look for pond creatures and build secret “gnome home” villages in the woods. Gain a greater connection to nature and curiosity about the outdoors and learn how you can be a steward of the natural world.

Explorers • Ages 8–9
Get curious as you explore the far reaches of Pleasant Valley in search of the hidden wonders of the natural world. Be ready for days packed with new sights, sounds, smells, and games as you get to know the sanctuary’s many habitats; hemlock forests, vernal pools, and beaver ponds await! Build survival shelters and learn to identify plants and animals. On Wednesday, hike to the top of Lenox Mountain and venture to the far reaches of Pleasant Valley’s trails.

Naturalists • Ages 10–12
Dive deep into the incredible complexity of the natural world. Explore the sanctuary off the beaten path, play games, and use real scientific techniques to discover more about the outdoors. Learn about local wildlife, hike trails throughout the sanctuary—including the legendary Trail of the Ledges—and investigate the science of Pleasant Valley.

Counselors-in-Training • Ages 14-17
Counselors-in-Training (CITs) gain valuable leadership skills while assisting camp counselors with daily tasks and camp activities. CITs are enthusiastic role models with a positive attitude who will enjoy working with children ages 4–9.
