Summer Reading Fun at YOUR Local Library

Summer is right around the corner! With school's out, any incentive to get our kids reading is great! Each year, local libraries host a variety of programs and events that encourage children to read and learn throughout the summer. Be sure to check out our calendar throughout the season to see what special events are going on at all the local libraries. Here is a list of local libraries participating this year. Click on each one for contact information and more details.

Adams Free Library

Sign up and begin logging any time after ! Keep track of the time you read or the number of books you read. Return your logs by . 

Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield

Summer Reading Kickoff: Monday, June 24th from 6-7 p.m. Open to ages 4-13 (siblings welcome). Come celebrate the start of the library’s summer reading program with Uncharted Wild! Meet a variety of live animals from all over the world and learn about how they live.

Bushnell-Sage Library, Sheffield

This summer, in coordination with iRead, the Summer Reading theme is: Read, Renew, Repeat. We’ll be focusing on conservation and environmentalism while encouraging our curiosity and expanding our imaginations! Sign ups start June 4th for both pre-readers and independent readers. Reading will raise money for local organizations. The official kick-off will be on Friday, June 28th with storyteller and musician, Davis Bates. Later in the afternoon the library will host Wicked Fun Games for an ages 10+ escape room.

Dalton Public Library

Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins on June 10th! Kids through grades 12 will be able to earn small prizes for reaching various milestones. They’ll also receive tickets to enter into our huge end of summer prize drawing. The easiest way to register is to download the Beanstack app, then search for the Dalton Free Public Library and follow registration prompts. You’re also able to register in person, if you’d prefer to track reading using our paper tracking sheets. Please feel free to email dalton@cwmars.org, or call 684-6112, if you have any questions.

Hinsdale Public Library

Summer Reading Program! Registration begins Monday, 6/3, and kids earn their first raffle ticket just by registering! 

Lee Library 



Lenox Library

Summer Reading Kick-Off: Tuesday, June 18 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Pick up your Summer Reading welcome packet, look for Gnorbitt the Gnome, and try the library scavenger hunt! Finish up with a popsicle outside (while supplies last)! Reading packets also can be picked up anytime after this day. The Summer Reading Program is open to students entering Kindergarten up through high school.

Mason Library, Great Barrington


Milne Public Library, Williamstown

June 29th, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Come celebrate the start of Summer Reading! We have a lot of fun stuff planned including crafts, games and snacks for everyone. We've invited Mr. Ding-a-Ling from 12 - 2, and there are two escape room sessions for kids over 10.
