Looking for a great place to skate in the Berkshires? We’ve got a few suggestions below (as well as a full list of local lakes HERE that make for great natural skating rinks). 2024 FREE Public Skate Opportunities

Saturday, January 27th 3-4:30 p.m. at the Pittsfield Boy's & Girl's Club, Pittsfield. 

Saturday, February 3rd 3-4:30 p.m. at the Pittsfield Boy's & Girl's Club, Pittsfield.


Berkshire Backyard Rink, Lee: Join Coach Joe for hockey and ice skating lessons for ages 4 to adult. Follow on Instagram for daily ice updates. Message Coach Joe for rates and ice availability. 

Blantyre, 16 Blantyre Road, Lenox: Outdoor skating rink (please call ahead for rink conditions).  (413) 637-3556 or blantyre.com. Call for skating rink status and no information available for 2021.

Boys and Girls Club of the Berkshires Skating Rink,16 Melville St. Pittsfield: Public skate times take place every Saturday and Sunday, from 3:30-5 p.m. Price is $4 with membership, $6 without membership; skate rentals available while they last for $3 per session. There are also a number of Free Public Skate times throughout the winter, as well as changing hours so please call ahead or check the website at (413) 448-8258 or bgcberkshires.org. Canterbury Farms Pond, 1986 Fred Snow Road, Becket: Ice skating, lessons, and skate rentals are available on a cleared outdoor pond which is much smaller than an indoor rink, yet big enough to glide and spin like a pro. (413) 623-0100 or canterbury-farms.com.

Cheshire Skating Rink, Community House: The rink will be open daily when the ice allows: Sunday - Thursday until 8:00 p.m. | Fridays & Saturdays until 9:00 p.m. Lights will come on at sundown and go off at closing time. No skating after hours. FREE but if you see a Hoosac Hose Company member, please thank them! *Designated hockey hours will be announced soon but for now, this is family skating time.

Lee Youth Commission Rink, Center of Lee: The Lee Youth Commission will be setting the rink up in the town square, right next to the Town Hall parking lot on Saturday, December 9th starting at 9:00 AM. Once the sides of the rink are setup and the liner is attached, the Lee Fire Dept. will fill it with water from a nearby hydrant.

Lenox Skating Rink, Lenox Community Center., 65 Walker St., Lenox: This is a public outdoor rink. Opening and closing dates vary with the seasons. Please call the Community Center to confirm skating hours and the condition of the ice. (413) 637-5530. 

Monterey Outdoor Ice Pavilion, 411 Main Road, Monterey: (413) 528-1443, ext. 248. This is a free outdoor rink for families to use at their own risk until 9 p.m. except for scheduled hockey times. Some donated skates are available for use (more donations are always accepted). Updates on rink conditions and status and the hockey schedule can be found on Facebook.

Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Skating Rink,1267 Church St., North Adams: Public skate times vary; birthday parties can be scheduled during public skate times. Fees are $5 for adults; $3 for children; rentals are $4. Call (413) 664-8185 or northadams-ma.gov for more information. Check the website for updated information.

Railroad Street Youth Project Community Rink, 60 Bridge St., Great Barrington: Open Wednesday-Friday 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Staffed on certain days. Open to skate at own risk. Email Regina@rsyp.org or sam@rsyp.org for more information.
