Looking for a way to get out of the house with the kids and not spend a fortune? Look no further than free and inexpensive movie screenings at Berkshire libraries, parks and town festivals this summer. See our list below.

Berkshire Athenaeum Teen Movie Nights 

Kick off your summer break with a pizza and movie night! Chill out with your friends, watch a movie, and eat some food! 1 Wendell Ave., Pittsfield.

Pittsfield Summer Outdoor Movie Series

A free summer movie series at Pittsfield’s Clapp Park courtesy of the Pittsfield Park’s and Recreation Department. Family-friendly movies are shown on select Friday nights during the summer and begin at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.); Follow “Pittsfield Parks Recreation” on Facebook for what to do if it rains! Suggestions are always welcome for future movies; call (413) 499-9371 if you have any suggestions.

Images Under the Stars

A weekly summer movie series sponsored by Images Cinema, featuring free family-friendly outdoor movies, Sundays in July. Movies begin at sundown around 8:15 p.m.

July 14: The Princess Bride (Sand Springs Pool)
July 21: Oh Brother Where Art Thou (Sweetwood)


Movies At the Milne

All summer long we'll be showing family movies at 2 pm in our Community Room at the back of the library. There's a new movie every week! We'll be deciding which movies to show based on audience opinion, so stop by the Children's Room and vote for your favorites. Starting at 2 p.m. Movie ratings will alternate between G and PG.

August 6: TBD


Movies Under the Stars at Colegrove Park

A free monthly movie series coincides with the Downstreet Art nights on the LAST Friday of the month from June through September. Colegrove Park, 24 Church St., North Adams

There are still a couple of Just Outside the Berkshires locations where you can still catch a couple of inexpensive family flicks at the local drive-in, too.

  • Hathaway’s Drive-In: Double-Feature With Movies Beginning At Dusk. Admission Is $10 For Adults; $5 Children Ages 3-11; Free For Children Under 3; And $5 Per Car Per Night For An Outside Food, Beverage And Cooler Permit. 4762 Route 67,  North Hoosick, N.Y.
  • Hollywood Drive-In: Double-Feature With Gates Opening At Friday And Saturday At 6:30 P.M., And Sunday Through Thursday At 7 P.M. Admission Is $10 For Adult, $5 For Ages 3-10. 9270 Route 66, Averill Park, N.Y
