Jacob's Pillow Community Day!

Every year the Jacob's Pillow Dance Summer Festival returns to the Berkshires along with some of our favorite summer activities— including their annual Community Day! Check out the events below and mark your calendar for August 16th! Everyone is invited to this kid-friendly, all-ages Friday afternoon, featuring movement classes as well as dance-themed children’s activities and tours. At 6pm, the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage will present Berkshire-region dance artists.

Family Music and Dance
Sundays, August 4 and August 11, 10:30-11:30am
Join Sandy Russell, a cherished teacher with over 20 years of experience in the Berkshires, for a taste of the Music Together® program. Her classes ignite children's natural passion for music and movement. With active participation from parents and caregivers, regardless of musical prowess, everyone has fun. Registration is now open!

Community Workshops
Sunday, August 4, 5-6:30pm
Community members of all ages are invited to explore the varied works of vising artists through movement and conversation. Workshops are held in Pittsfield and are free to attend. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Jacob's Pillow On the Road
Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10
Catch outdoor dance performances across the Berkshires, featuring touring and Berkshire-region dance artists. Pack a blanket or outdoor chair and enjoy these free pop-up performances with family and friends in June (in Pittsfield) and August (in Great Barrington and Becket).

Community Day
Friday, August 16, 3-6pm
Everyone is invited to this free, kid-friendly, all-ages Friday afternoon, featuring performances, movement classes, dance-themed children’s activities, face painting, a drum circle with Aimee Gelinas, crafts with TG’s Clubhouse, Drag story time, popcorn, and more.

Schedule:
3-4pm: Common Ground Interactive Demo with digital technology, music, and dance
3-4pm: Tea Party for Kids
3:30-4pm: Drag Story Hour
4-5pm: Drum Circle with Tamarack Hollow Nature and Cultural Center, led by Aimee Gelinas of Gaia Roots
5-6pm: Children’s Creative Movement Class
5-6pm: Meet Cooper the Dancing Llama and hear his story
