Berkshire MacKid Road Trip โ€” Glendale Falls, Middlefield, MA

By Mary George July 12, 2018

Did you know that one of the state’s highest plunging and most powerful waterfalls is just beyond the Berkshires in Middlefield, MA?

When traveling to the falls and/or Middlefield from the Berkshires, take Route 143 through Hinsdale and Peru to Worthington, MA. After a steep dip in the road, look for River Road (to your right). Follow River Road just beyond a left-hand fork, to a sharp right, uphill turn on Clark Wright Road. As you ascend the hill, you will spot the Trustees and Reservations signs for the Glendale Falls parking area on your right.

Trail maps are available. The well maintained, gravel trail leading to the bottom of the falls features a series of stone and wooden steps that are manageable for climbers of any age. The flat rocks surrounding the pool at the top of the cascade offer the perfect snacking spot after your return trek back up the falls.
