I was on Week 7 of Jenny Craig March 27-April 2

"An accountability partner is able to perceive what you can't see when blind spots and weaknesses block your vision." ~ Charles Stanley

In January of 2018 when I set some major business goals for Macaroni Kid, I joined an accountability group. When I decided to focus more on my freelance writing recently, I called up a magazine editor I used to write for, she assigned me a few stories with deadlines and suddenly there was someone there to help hold me accountable for my writing goals. So it was no surprise when I told my Jenna Craig consultant Norma that I was having difficulties working out consistently, she recommended I find an accountability partner.

So at the beginning of Week 7, I enlisted my daughter Kenna's help in getting me moving more often. The very next day she called me up to her room for a video workout. For 20 minutes we planked, we burpeed, we ran in place, and I realized just how out of shape I was. But I also realized that anytime I ever embarked on any sort of Weight Loss Program, I was most successful when:

  1. I had someone else cheering me on and working on their own weight loss goals at the same time and
  2. I implemented a fitness plan at the same time I was making adjustments to my diet.

I had already made major modifications to my diet via the Jenny Craig Rapid Results Program, and I was seeing success. But my weight loss had started to slow down, and last week I hadn't lost any weight at all. So this week I was determined to see a lower number on the scale and I knew that for that to happen I had to make changes to my level of activity and Kenna was going to help me.

Well, not only did Kenna help me — we had that Saturday morning workout and took a couple of walks — but my husband and sons also got in on the action. I went for a long three-mile walk with my husband and dogs one afternoon, and then Mark, myself, Kenna and Kenna's twin brother Max went for another long hike in the woods with our dogs one day that logged about 8,000+ steps on my digital pedometer. So on Week 7, I went from going on a walk here and there, to three long walks and an intense workout.

And guess what? I lost two pounds, making it a total weight loss of 10 pounds in seven weeks. * Avg. weight lost in study was 11.6 lbs./4 wks. for those who completed the program. I received promotional consideration.

Once again I found enlisting the help of a few accountability partners helped me reach a goal I had set for myself. Thanks for the reminder, Norma!
