CONTEMPORARY & DANCE MAKING PROGRAM
Advanced beginner/intermediate level
With Teaching Artists Tom Masters, Veronica Bone, Fern Katz
and Assistant Rubielle Nejaime

This program emphasizes contemporary dance training and site-specific dance creation culminating with a FREE performance of works inspired by Chesterwood’s history, sculpture and natural and architectural landscapes. The goal of this program is to introduce young people to Chesterwood’s heritage through the exploration of dance creation.

Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Culminating Presentation on Friday, July 16 at 5 p.m.
Rain date on Sunday, July 18 at 3:30 p.m.

HIP HOP/STREET STYLE INTENSIVE
For all levels
With Teaching Artists Andres Ramirez, Sereena Hunter, Shakia Barron

In this week-long program, students will learn foundational movements and techniques of hip-hop and street styles alongside the cultural meaning and significance of these moves. The emphasis in this program is on social dancing and creativity. Styles will include beginner’s breakdancing, party grooves, and hip-hop choreography.

JULY BALLET SERIES
Advanced beginner/intermediate
With Teaching Artist Mio Ishikawa

This two-week class series offers ballet students the opportunity to maintain conditioning while further developing their technique and artistry.

Thursday 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Saturday 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Cost: $100

BALLET INTENSIVE
Advanced beginner/intermediate
With Teaching Artists Micheline Weiler, Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, Mio Ishikawa

This program will offer advanced beginner and intermediate level Ballet students an opportunity to expand their knowledge of Ballet as a traditional and contemporary art form, while experiencing its value as an effective tool for other dance forms. While rooted in traditional values, our training offers the most current techniques. We uphold the highest professional standards while encouraging a non-competitive learning atmosphere that fosters the individuality of each student as a developing artist. Classes will include Ballet technique with special themes in allegro, pirouettes, and adage, variations class including a pointe/pre-pointe barre, pas de deux, and men's work, a technical modern class and workshops in wellness and how best to care for the dancer’s body. This program is for students who have had at least 2 years of Ballet training and have participated in at least 3 classes per week in this past year. Students are required to complete an application in order to be considered for this program.
