3rd Annual Celebration of Black Voices

Join the Barrington Stage Company for the 3rd Annual Celebration of Black voices in the arts! All weekend at The Tartell Family Outdoor Stage enjoy world-class performances and interactive events from incredible local artists. All events are free but reservations are strongly recommended. See below for a schedule of events:


AUGUST 10–13

Tartell Family Outdoor Stage at the Polish Community Club, Linden and Center Streets

Come and join the festivities in our celebration of local Black artists, featuring a kickoff concert with Brownskin Band, an adult talent show with cash prizes, a community gospel concert and a host of other events. All events are FREE and open to the public. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Come get the party started with the Brownskin Band. No one knows how to celebrate like this dynamic combo from Syracuse, New York, two-time SAMMY award winners for Best R&B CD.

Friday, August 112:00PMYouth/Young Adult Performance 
A culminating performance from the participants of a weeklong performing arts camp for BIPOC youth ages 10–18. This camp is free of charge. Participants will have worked with a professional theatre director, music director and choreographer who will help assist the group in creating an original play/showcase.

6:00PMPoetry Slam
Come out and hear local residents using poetry and storytelling as the vehicle to give you a glimpse into who they are and what shaped them into the person they are today.

Saturday, August 126:00PMWestSide Takes the Stage: Take 4 Adult Talent Show
Come out and support our local performers/artists as they compete for cash prizes in our Fourth Annual Adult Talent Show.

Sunday, August 131:00PMJoyful Noise 2 Gospel Concert
Enjoy an afternoon of gospel music with the Celebration of Black Voices Community Choir.
This choir is made up of community members from our local Black churches who all participated in a gospel music workshop and this culminating performance is one you definitely do not want to miss.

6:00PMBlack Voices Matter
Join us for a celebratory community performance piece devised with local Black community members using the performing arts as a tool to share their joy, fears, triumphs, and what it means to be African American in the Berkshires.
