January at Berkshire CHP Means Fun for Caregivers & Kids!

CHP of the Southern Berkshires is kicking off 2023 with fun & helpful programming all of January! Keep scrolling to view the latest events coming up this month at Community Health Programs in Great Barrington! For a calendar of Weekly Playgroups, CLICK HERE.

CHP Family Services are designed to bring young children, parents, and caregivers together to establish a connection to each other and to available support services. CHP provides activities, events, and classes to meet the needs and interests of the community. Playgroups are open to families with children birth through age 5 for social interaction. Other opportunities include clothing and toy exchange; lending library; parent education workshops; activities for children; information and referrals to area services. 

Wednesday, January 11th at 11 a.m.
An online workshop and orientation program for parents of public school children who are entitled to special needs education services. The meeting will be hosted by Rania Markham and Melanie Wickwire of CHP Family Services, both parents of children with special needs.
Children with special needs are entitled to the Individualized Education Plan (sometimes referred to as a program), which is developed in collaboration with parents/caregivers and school education specialists. IEPs are intended to ensure that special needs students receive the best possible education and support services.

Special Kids, Special Diets

Wednesday, January 26th at 11 a.m.

Join CHP for an informational fun-filled virtual workshop to explore ideas and speak to a nutritionist. The discussion will include programs available to all community members at CHP and also some nutritional guidance. Also learn about how Reiki, an energy healing technique, can promote relaxation, and reduce stress and anxiety. Facilitated by a parent of a child with special needs and CHP Care Coordinator Rania Markham, Ashli Minor, MS, RDN, LDN  Nutritionist, Stacy Strain, Community Health Worker Nutrition Program Assistant, and WIC Community Coordinator & Community Health Worker Maria Mayorga. Time will be designated for specific questions about your children's diet and exchanging ideas with other parents.

Caregiver's Night Out with Berkshire Art Center

Friday, January 13th from 6-8 p.m.

Join CHP and Berkshire Arts Center, for a night of free art-making.
This month we will make foam stampers to print on canvas totes. Join us for pizza and creativity. No experience necessary
Childcare is available for children ages 6 and over. Children will have their own art class in a separate studio

Workout Classes: Strength & Condition - with Childcare

Monday, January 23rd & 30th, 10-10:45 a.m.

It's back... we're once again in collaboration with Berkshire Pulse to bring you more opportunities to work out for free and with free childcare.
A basic full-body workout with modifications available. Warm up, self-paced stations, group abs and arms, and a guided cool down and stretch.
For families with children one year and over.
