Winter Fun at the Clark PLUS 3 Months of Free Admission

ATTERBURY ART MAKING Thursday, December 28, 2-4 p.m., Check out contemporary artist Elizabeth Atterbury’s Oracle Bones during the last month of the installation and make your own artwork inspired by hers. Enjoy two hands-on art-making activities—one focusing on her raked mortar sculpture and one focusing on her chine collé prints. All ages and abilities are welcome at this drop-in art-making opportunity! Free.

KIDS CAN COOK! Friday, December 29, 11am-12:30 p.m., The Clark’s popular kids' cooking class returns! Little chefs will learn cooking techniques and whip up goodies from around the world, including empanadas, lasagna, and a tasty dessert. Tickets $30 ($28 members). Recommended for ages 5–10; a take-home goodie bag is included. Sign up early as this class always sells out!

THE MET: LIVE IN HD THE MAGIC FLUTE Saturday, December 30, 12:155-2:55 p.m., The Met’s family-friendly production of Mozart’s dazzling fairy tale returns, sung in English and running under two hours. Patrick Furrer and Gareth Morrell share conducting duties, leading a standout cast in Julie Taymor’s magical staging. Tenors Piotr Buszewski and Joshua Blue share the role of Tamino, the brave prince on a quest to win the clever princess Pamina, sung by sopranos Janai Brugger and Liv Redpath. The cast also features famed tenor Rolando Villazón reprising his uproarious portrayal as the luckless bird catcher Papageno, alternating with baritone Alexander Birch Elliott, and soprano Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night, alongside basses Brindley Sherratt and James Creswell as Sarastro. Please note, this is an encore presentation of The Magic Flute.
Tickets $25 ($22 members, $18 students, $5 children 15 and under). Advance registration encouraged; capacity is limited. No refunds.

NEW PARENTS GALLERY TOUR Friday, January 5, 10:15-11:15 a.m., New parents and caregivers are invited to bring their infants into the galleries for an informal, guided visit. The tour includes a unique look at the Clark’s permanent collection, featuring a rich array of works by artists such as John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Berthe Morisot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas. This special program is best suited for adults with pre-toddlers. Strollers and front-carrying baby carriers are welcome. Free. Meet at the Clark’s main Admissions desk.

FUN ON FIRST SUNDAYS Sunday, January 7, 1-4 p.m., Kick-start the year with a moment of reflection, art, and imagination. Get creative with paper and glue as you design your own journal and settle in with some writing prompts encouraging us to reflect on the past year and dream and plan for the year ahead. Try your hand as a sculptor and create a colorful self-portrait out of modeling clay. As always, join us inside and outside of the galleries for fun opportunities to engage with art, each other, and ourselves as we welcome the new year! Free admission all day. Special activities in the Conforti Pavilion from 1–4 pm.

START WITH ART Saturday, January 13, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Get your preschoolers off to a creative start with themed painting talks, gallery guides, and art-making activities specially designed for this age group. Best suited for three- to six-year-olds and their caregivers. Art-making can be messy ... please dress for the mess! Free.
