Berkshire Artweek Events May 17-27

BERKSHIRE COUNTYArtWeek Berkshires is an annual celebration of local creativity. This year, from May 17-27 enjoy 100+ hands-on or behind-the-scenes events and open studios across the region, from gallery shows to live performances, poetry readings to painting demos, and so much more. ArtWeek is presented by the five Cultural Districts of Berkshire County and promoted by 1Berkshire. Below we've shared a few highlights from the week. Berkshire Opera Festival Presents a Free Family Concert
May 18 | 11:00 am - 11:50 am  
Giuseppe Grandini and the Search for the World’s Greatest Opera Character is a free family concert presented as part of ArtWeek Berkshires. The great Italian opera impresario Giuseppe Grandini needs your help in his search to find the greatest opera character of all time! This is a chance to discover opera’s most colorful characters, from the good to the downright nasty. With five stellar guest artists and Giuseppe as your guide, explore what makes these characters so entertaining through the music of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and more.
Recommended for ages 8-14, with accompanying family members of all ages.

Dewey Drop-In: Talent Share
May 22 | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm  
Have a story? Know a joke? Do you play an instrument, or like to dance? Do you paint, craft, write, collect, explore, study or obsess? We need all of what you do up on the stage at our Talent Share! We’re taking  our open mic to new places and we need you to do it. Show us how your juggling is coming along, or sing us that new song you wrote. All are welcome, and no talent is too small. Children are encouraged to attend and participate. This is an alcohol free event.

Free Parent & Me Art Meetup
May 25 | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm  
Join Berkshire Art Center at our Pittsfield location for a consistent time to connect with other parents (now held only on the 4th Saturday of every month) while engaging in a creative and fun art project with your littles! At each meeting, we will offer a rotating project for families to participate in at their own pace, with the guidance and support of a Faculty Artist. Socialize and create in this safe and nurturing environment. All parent-identifying grown ups are welcome and children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required. See you in the studio!
