By Berkshires Macaroni Kid September 10, 2025

SHEFFIELD, MA – The Sheffield Historical Society is thrilled to announce its annual Berkshire Garlic Festival, a new community tradition celebrating the rich agricultural heritage of the Berkshires. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, on the grounds of the Sheffield Historical Society, located at 159 Main Street. The Historical Society is cohosting the event with Greenagers.

This year's festival promises to be the most exciting yet, with a wide array of garlic-themed delights and family-friendly activities. Attendees can expect:

  • Garlic Galore: Local farmers will be on hand with an abundance of fresh, locally grown garlic for sale. From hardneck to softneck varieties, there will be something for every garlic enthusiast.
  • Demos Throughout the Day: Some of our farmers will be under the Demo Tent, showing folks all about growing garlic, creating garlic-infused goods, and Greenagers will be doing Kids Cooking Demos featuring GARLIC.
  • Artisan Vendors: Browse a curated selection of local artisans and crafters offering unique, handmade goods. Find the perfect gift or a special memento to remember the day.
  • Food & Drink: Indulge in a variety of delicious food options, many of which feature—you guessed it—garlic! Along with Padre Pollo’s bbq sandwiches- Rustik Eats and BB’s Hot Spot food trucks will also be on site with delicious pizzas, sandwiches, jerk chicken and more.
  • Kids' Activities: The festival is fun for all ages! A dedicated kids' area will feature games, crafts, and other engaging activities to keep the young ones entertained. Canaan Kids Art Space will be with us offering tons of art activities.
  • Historical Exhibits: Explore the Sheffield Historical Society's museum and buildings, and learn about the town's fascinating history. The Mark Dewey Research Center will be open for anyone who is curious about local history or their own genealogy.

"The Garlic Festival is a highlight of our year," said Aretha Whitehead, Administrator of the Sheffield Historical Society. "It's a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate our local farmers and artisans, and share a bit of Sheffield's history in a fun and festive setting. We invite everyone to come out, enjoy the day, and experience the 'stinking' good time we have in store."

Admission to the Garlic Festival is free. Parking will be available nearby. All proceeds from vendor fees and donations support Sheffield Historical Society and Greenagers’ education programs.
