My daughter started at DCNS this past September when she was just three and a half years old. Before she entered school we had gone on several playdates and other activities designed for children and we were struggling with learning how to share and how to keep our hands to ourselves and how to use our words instead of acting out. So even though I was nervous to part with the little human I created and had spent every waking hour with (and we were awake most of them) I sent her off to her first year of her school career. I cannot say enough how pleased we have both been with this experience. Ms. Harris is the preschool teacher you wish you had, full of enthusiasm, creativity, knowledge and a true love for children. Each day my daughter comes home with wonderful art projects, stories about the day's activities and her part in them and a desire to go back to school the next day, I think she would go seven days a week if she had the chance. The days of pulling other kids hair or refusing to share a toy are long past now and if they do on occasion happen, we are able to talk thru it and communicate more effectively with each other. I know that her attendance at DCNS has everything to do with that. She has learned so many important social skills that as a parent I was not able to teach her, no matter how much I wanted to, and Ms. Harris has consistently been there to work with me so as to create a united front which in turn made life easier, and who wouldn't want that. I am so grateful to have found a place to bring my daughter that i feel safe leaving her throughout the day knowing that she is having a blast, well taken care of and looked after (the classes are small and there is a lot of individual attention given to each child) and learning about variety of topics thru hands-on activities that are well thought out and designed for her needs. So it is my official recommendation that if you have a child of age who lives in this area you will be doing everyone a favor by sending them to DCNS, you'll thank me later.
