The Stockbridge Library invites you to The Stockbridge Ice Festival featuring ice sculptures carved by regional artists and an exhibit about the history of the Ice Glen and the ice harvesting businesses in and around Stockbridge, MA.
On the lawn of The Stockbridge Library, each sculptor will be crafting sculptures from solid blocks of ice that reflect a design of their choice. The Ice Glen history exhibit, created from archival photos is aimed to heighten awareness of local history and offer a range of perspectives on the accomplishments of past residents who have lived in the Ice Glen neighborhood, highlighting commercial aspects of the local businesses and individuals in the ice harvesting businesses, dating from the late 18th century.
In addition to the sculptures and historical exhibit, the Museum & Archives will display ice harvesting tools from the Schneyer Ice Company of Stockbridge. The youth department is offering take and make crafts for children.
