Here's your chance--an exciting one-- to watch DION ROBBINS-ZUST of the famous Robbins-Zust Marionette Company perform his magic for kids of all ages! Bring your children, your grandchildren, or simply your inner child to Dottie’s Coffee Lounge at 444 North Street in Pittsfield. Each half-hour Saturday show will present a classic fairy tale:
- August 7, The Three Little Pigs
- August 14, Jack and the Beanstalk
- August 21, Firebird (with recorded Stravinsky!)
- August 28, Rumpelstiltskin
These special engagement shows are a fiftieth-anniversary performance and offer a unique opportunity to see the classic marionettes of the Robbins-Zust family.
Dion Zust is the only family member performing, doing solo shows that once took five family members to operate. From the family’s original 100 marionettes, which range from one to two feet in height, Dion's chosen four of the most popular characters from stories his family performed over half a century.
The special fiftieth-anniversary performances offer children, their parents and grandparents to see up close the marionettes, which are puppets controlled by wires or strings. It is an ancient art that Zust makes very of the moment.
