Berkshires On Pointe Barre & Fitness Celebrates One Year Anniversary!

On Pointe Barre & Fitness, the Berkshire’s premier barre studio, is celebrating one year in business this month. Now, you may be wondering what is “barre” exactly? Barre is a low-impact, total body workout that combines ballet-inspired movements with elements of Pilates, yoga, and strength training. Using small, controlled movements, isometric holds, and high repetitions you will sculpt and strengthen your muscles while improving your balance, posture, and flexibility. This workout utilizes a ballet barre, small hand weights, and other props. You don't need any ballet, dance, or barre experience to be able to do this class. It is accessible to all ages and fitness levels!



On Pointe Barre puts a big emphasis on community and being part of a “tribe”.  Owner Jillian Bamford, founded the studio in 2021 after losing her job during COVID. Her goal is to provide a warm, welcoming, and encouraging environment, free from judgement, for all fitness levels and abilities. Jillian is also an ACE-certified Personal Trainer who loves helping women of all ages on their fitness journey. However, her biggest passion is working with the moms! As a Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist, Jillian uses a 3-stage approach to train clients for the marathon that is labor and delivery! This helps set the stage for an easier pregnancy, smoother childbirth, and a faster postpartum recovery.

On Pointe Barre has several varieties of barre classes as well as other group fitness classes like Spinning™ and strength training. They also offer personal training, pre/postnatal training, and private classes at the studio.

Jillian is also looking to add a number of mom (and dad!) friendly classes to her schedule the next few months:

  • Stroller Barre - In this bodyweight only class, the stroller is your barre! This is the perfect opportunity to get outside, spend time with your baby and fellow moms while taking the time to move your body.
  • Babywearing Barre - Get your workout in while having some extra bonding time with baby. This class incorporates barre exercises that can be done while babywearing followed by mat time with your little one. Children age two and under who are happy and comfortable in a front or rear carrier are welcome!
  • Prenatal Barre - Barre is the perfect workout for expecting mothers and those that are trying to get back into their fitness routine after baby. Because of its low impact focus, gentle, isometric movements, and emphasis on proper posture and flexibility, it is the perfect way to prepare for and/or recover from delivery! Expect to build strength and muscular endurance that supports daily function as a mother. No prior barre experience required.
