LENOX— The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home offers a variety of programming and activities thought out the winter.
WILDERNESS PROGRAMS
The Mount is excited to launch a series of "Wildlife Wednesday" winter programs in partnership with Mass Audubon. TheMount and Mass Audubon have partnered for over five seasons with warm-weather programming. This is there first joint winter programming. "We are excited to continue to grow our partnership with The Mount," said Dale Abrams, Regional Education Specialistat Mass Audubon, on planning the winter series.
“Our ongoing partnership with Mass Audubon has been a wonderful way for the community to explore, understand ,and connect with the natural world—the woods, meadows, and wetlands loved by Edith Wharton, and we are thrilled to be able to collaborate with Mass Audubon year-round,” Sarah Margolis-Pineo, Director of Programs, The Mount.
Tracking Wildlife, Wednesday, January 15, 10– 11 am. This program is led by a Mass Audubon naturalist and is a good introduction to the art of wildlife tracking.
Starlight Owl and Wildlife Prowl Wednesday, February 12, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Participants will learn about owls and other nocturnal wildlife as they explore fields, forests, and wetlands, learning about the adaptations of animals that are active at night.

HOLIDAY HOUSE TOURS
History lovers will enjoy the House Tours of Edith Wharton’s Gilded Age mansion, beautifully decorated for the holiday. Guided and Self-Guided Tours are available every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) 10 am – 3 pm through December.

NIGHTWOOD
In its fifth year, NightWood, an innovative sound and light experience takes place just as the sun sets throughout the woods and gardens of the estate. Dramatic lighting, original music, and creative elements evoke wonder and awaken the imagination. The Mount Bookstore is open for NightWood visitors, and the NightWood Café serves hot chocolate, hot apple cider, beer, and wine, and seasonal treats in the Mansion courtyard. A food truck will be on-site for most shows in December. NightWood runs through January 4, weekends and select weekdays.

HIKING AND SNOWSHOEING TRAILS
The property is open year-round to the public for free. Visitors can explore the gardens, fields, and woodlands from dawn to dusk. We have a variety of trails for hiking and snowshoeing. Dogs are welcomed but please keep them on lease.

THE MOUNT, EDITH WHARTON’S HOME
The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home is a National Historic Landmark and cultural center dedicated to the intellectual, artistic, and humanitarian legacy of Edith Wharton (1862-1937), one of America’s greatest authors. Wharton wrote over 40 books in 40 years, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Age of Innocence.
The Mount presents Wharton’s life and achievements through tours of her house and gardens, along with thematic tours of her library, and a popular ghost tour. The Mount is the literary hub of the Berkshires and hosts lectures by national authors and scholars, panels, and an annual writers-in-residency. The Mount’s grounds, including the gardens and trails are open free to the public year-round from dawn to dusk.
